Lowering the Cost of College Textbooks

feature photo

You don’t need to read this blog post to know that the prices of college textbooks are obscene.

Amazon.com, however, is aiming to change this. I wrote a post about Amazon’s efforts to crack the electronic textbook market with its launch of the Kindle DX at my other college blog at CBSMoneyWatch.com. On that post I also explain why  college textbooks are priced like beluga caviar. It’s actually a fascinating story.

Please check it out.

To combat high textbook prices I always use http://www.bigwords.com They are a textbook search engine that searches all the online textbook retailers (including amazon, half, ebay etc) and rental sites (including chegg, bookrenter etc) to find you the best prices. You can even use them at the end of the semester to search for resellers to sell your books to.

We use Chegg to rent textbooks all the time which saves a lot of money every semester. I have a promotional code that you can use for a discount on your order. Just put the code in when ordering and hit the “apply” button. The code will also give you an extra $5 back if you want to sell Chegg your used texts.

The code does NOT have an expiration date so it can be used at anytime.

Please pass the code to all your friends to save money!
